If the dead are going to return from their graves, then there’s nothing to stop the birds from eating the bodies. Look! Look! See! (to theGHOST) What do you have to say? What do I care? If you can nod, then speak too. Why do you make such faces? When all’s done, Impostors to true fear, would well become This is the air-drawn dagger which you said I don’t know about Act 3, but I think Lady Macbeth will be key character for Macbeth’s characterization.Īy, and a bold one, that dare look on that Now we know that she will do anything for Macbeth, but she has a weakness family value. How idealistic woman she is! Very strong, yet very respectful and trust-able. She is a woman who supports her husband to become a king, and cares about her father. The part where I chose from scene 2 line 16 basically means “If Duncan (sleeping) did not look alike to my father, I could have killed him.” Such a bold woman Lady Macbeth is (I like it), but did you realize how she cares about her father? She couldn’t kill the king because he looked like her father, even though he wasn’t! This shows how Lady Macbeth is not just a serial killer, but she is a wholehearted person. It is about her “family value” she naturally have as woman. The focus of this quote is, however, is not about her anxiety here. The scene was right before Macbeth enters the room with his bloody dagger in his hand, so simply, she was panicked. This is only the last part of Lady Macbeth’s soliloquy, where she was afraid if the guardians woke up (she poured in a legion of drugs in wine and made the guardians sleep, or even die), or the murder didn’t happen. The play Macbeth was written in 17th Century, which was when men had to rule their partner in a same way as King ruling the country, and the women had to support their partner. The significance of this quote is at the representation of women’s role as wife. “Valour her tongue” means that Lady Macbeth is going to help Macbeth take action. We can understand that from where she says “It is too full o’ th’ milk of human kindness,” “ I may pour my spirits in thine ear And chastise with the valour of my tongue” and “thee crowned withal” at the end. The first quote is Lady Macbeth telling Macbeth that he is too kind to kill Duncan, and the second one is Lady Macbeth telling Macbeth that she will support him to become the king. Which fate and metaphysical aid doth seem Thou wouldst be great,Īnd chastise with the valour of my tongueĪll that impedes thee from the golden round, It is too full o’ th’ milk of human kindness “Glamis thou art, and Cawdor, and shalt be Instead, we will be discussing about Lady Macbeth’s social status as a woman. We already found out how bloody Lady Macbeth is, but we won’t be discussing about it for this post.
